The candidate will be a vital member of the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) faculty and will be required to follow all faculty responsibilities described in the MSU Denver Faculty Handbook.
The successful candidate will serve as the Athletic Training Program Clinical Education Coordinator which includes: coordination of all Athletic Training Students at various clinical sites; weekly instruction of Athletic Training Students to practice and improve their clinical skills; supervision of all clinical sites/preceptors to ensure that students are receiving the proper training and supervision from their preceptors; and assessment of preceptors, clinical instructors and athletic training students throughout their progression in the ATP. The successful candidate will share their content expertise with students within the Department of Human Performance and Sport. The candidate will teach a load of 12 credit hours per semester which will include, but not be limited to: Anatomical Kinesiology, Evaluation of Athletic Injury, Rehabilitation of Athletic Injury, Pathology of Athletic Injury; Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Performance Enhancement Specialist. The successful candidate will also review, update/modify course material as necessary in order to ensure that all applicable accreditation competencies are being addressed.
The successful candidate will advise students in the Athletic Training Major, provide initial advising for students who have undeclared majors and provide advising to transfer students who are either enrolled or not yet enrolled at MSU Denver.
The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activities appropriate to the discipline. The candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills.
Service: The successful candidate will perform service to MSU Denver, the Department of Human Performance and Sport, the community and currently have a demonstrated record of service to the athletic training profession.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work with historically underrepresented students, including students of color, and be committed to assisting the University, at the Department level, in its endeavor to become a Hispanic Serving Institution.
Masters’ Degree in Athletic Training or related field plus current BOC Certification, plus 5 years athletic training experience; or Doctorate in Athletic Training or related field plus current BOC Certification.
Registered with Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies or eligible. Previous experience as a clinical education coordinator affiliated with a CAATE accredited institution; preceptor experience; undergraduate college teaching in the classes listed under responsibilities; 5 years traditional/clinical experience in the Athletic Training field, current NASM certification in PES; previous experience working with a diverse student population.
