This position exists for a dynamic teacher-scholar in the field of Composition and Rhetoric to teach composition courses in the University’s General Education program and courses for the English major and minor in composition and rhetoric.
Teaching four courses each fall and spring term, with the majority in General Education composition; professional development in the field; service to the department, school, university, and/or community, and student advising. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
PhD in English or closely related field conferred by January 2014.
PhD in English with a dissertation in the field of Composition and Rhetoric, PhD in Composition and Rhetoric, or PhD in Writing Studies.
Teaching experience in higher education, especially in an urban environment;demonstrated potential for scholarship in the field of composition and rhetoric, writing studies, or the scholarship of teaching and learning; a record of innovative teaching including the use of multi-modal writing assignments, visual rhetoric,or writing about writing; a record in universal course design and making the classroom or online learning environment accessible to all students. Experience in working with first generation students and ethnic minorities.
