Detailed Job Description
The Psychology Dept. of Metropolitan State College of Denver invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in clinical/counseling psychology to begin Fall 2012.
Teach 4 courses (12 hours) per semester; the teaching load will consist of such undergraduate courses as abnormal psychology, introduction to clinical and counseling psychology, introductory psychology, theories of personality, positive psychology, and psychological research methods. Other responsibilities include engaging in scholarly activities related to clinical/counseling psychology; advising students; performing Departmental, College, and professional service; participating in course and program development; performing other duties as assigned by the Chair.
Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology completed no later than June 1, 2012.
Doctorate completed at the time of application. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching undergraduate clinical and/or counseling courses such as clinical psychology, abnormal psychology, theories of personality, and research methods. Associated professional experience with recent published research in refereed psychology-related journals. Ability to involve students in research. Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Colorado. Ph.D. from an AACSB Accredited institution preferred. Applicants with demonstrated experience in the recruitment and/or retention of underserved students, including students of color, preferred. Teaching experience with non-traditional students and ability to use appropriate educational technology. Demonstrated community engagement experience, e.g., outreach to K-12 schools, community partnerships, service learning, community engagement in courses is also highly desirable.
