The University of San Diego (USD) invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Choral Studies to begin in the Fall semester, 2014. This appointment is full-time, tenure-track. The successful candidate is the director of choirs responsible for the operation of the choral program at USD. Duties include directing the Choral Scholars, an elite and scholarship-funded vocal ensemble, maintain an active performance record on and off campus, and direct the Concert Choir. Additional courses depend upon area of expertise. Qualifications to teach Conducting and Choral Methods desirable; some ability to play piano a necessity; college teaching experience required. The candidate must be an effective recruiter and public speaker, and is expected to maintain an active professional profile and to serve on campus committees. Preferred requirements are a DMA in Choral Conducting or equivalent professional experience, PhD in Music Education or with requisite Choral experience, or EdD with specialization in Choral Directing.
