Position Summary:
This position provides leadership, supervision, coordination and direction of student services departments and programs including: California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSP&S), Dusty Baker Student Athlete Resource Center, Learning Disabilities (LD), Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOP&S), Financial Aid (FA) and Veterans Center. Under the general direction of the Vice President of Student Services, the Dean of Student Services plans, develops and administers the program budgets in the identified areas of responsibility in consultation with faculty coordinators, directors, supervisors and staff. Works cooperatively with other Los Rios Community College District colleges and district staff.

. Builds a collaborative work environment with faculty coordinators and supervisors to connect and provide direction for all programs and services.
. Builds and maintains effective relationships with key constituencies to ensure maximum effectiveness of program resources.
. Fosters college-wide awareness of student success in all programs and services.
. Encourages a climate of innovation and staff improvement to achieve optimal performance.
. Functions as the lead administrator for all programs and services in pursuing successful student learning outcomes.
. Coordinates the establishment of standardized business processes in all programs and services.
. Fosters a climate of collaboration with general counseling and other support services.
. Supervises classified staff and faculty personnel in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of student support programs.
. Supervises work schedules, absence reports, evaluations and professional growth of all assigned staff.
. Promotes staff development and training for areas of responsibilities.
. Prepares and presents proposals concerning necessary policy and procedural changes for all departments and services, assuring interconnectedness of services.
. Helps to establish and coordinate consistent district-wide policies and processes that ensure campus compliance with Federal, State, and institutional policies, regulations and reporting requirements impacting all programs.
. Works with faculty coordinators and supervisors to identify and maintain the annual budgets for all programs.
. Acts as a liaison to all Advisory Committees in areas of responsibility.
. Acts as the primary liaison with the State Chancellor's Office for programs supervised.
. Serves as a member of the Student Services Deans Council.
. Acts as a liaison between the College and the District Information Technology department in support of student support programs.
. Recommends selections of candidates for certificated and classified positions in the area of responsibility.

Additioinal Responsibilities:
. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines and business practices governing programs such as CalWORKs, DSP&S, EOP&S, FA, Veterans Programs and LD.
. Knowledge of budget preparation, control and fiscal reporting procedures.
. Experience in project management, business planning processes and effective customer service.
. Knowledge of California Community College categorical programs such as CalWORKs, DSP&S, EOP&S, FA, LD, Veterans and student success efforts.
. Knowledge of database management for Student Records and Financial modules.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Have a master's degree* from an accredited institution completed by January 2, 2014.

2. Have one year formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment.

3. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.

Administrative/Executive/Faculty Positions: Contingent on funding and eligibility, successful candidates selected for an interview may be eligible to apply for partial reimbursement of travel expenses.

Administrative/Executive Positions: Administrative positions may be subject to the District's Conflict of Interest Code, and a statement of economic interest is required within thirty (30) days following appointment to the position. Management/Executive positions are exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Additional Salary Information:
Additional stipend for an earned doctorate from an accredited university.
