Montgomery College (Maryland), Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus is seeking a full-time Nursing faculty member to fill a position beginning spring 2012.

Nursing Faculty - Position #2629 – Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus

This job posting is open until filled with review of applications to begin September 15, 2011.

Assignment begins January 2012, contingent upon available funding.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit and requires payment of dues or a service fee.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The faculty members will be responsible for classroom and clinical instruction of students in assigned course(s). Evening and Saturday hours may be required.
• Course assignments are made based on program needs and faculty may be expected to develop competency in other areas of nursing.
• Faculty members are assigned a workload consisting of a standard minimum of thirty (30) equivalent semester hours per academic year.
• Faculty members are expected to participate in program curriculum and course development, evaluation and revision, advising students toward program completion, and participation with College community in academic governance.

As a condition of faculty employment, the following are required:
• Participation in a retirement plan (State of Maryland Requirement).
• Receipt of official transcript for the highest degree earned.
• Receipt of three letters of professional reference.

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or higher in Nursing.
• Maryland and District of Columbia Registered Nurse unencumbered license or eligibility to obtain.
• A minimum of 2 years bedside nursing experience in acute care settings.
• Recent experience (within the last 2 years ) in Medical-Surgical nursing.
• Computer literacy in all of the following programs are required: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft PowerPoint
Additional Requirements at the time of employment:
Requires documentation of immunizations and/or immunity for Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR); Varicella; Tetanus, Diphtheria & Acellular Pertussis (Tdap); and Hepatitis B; annual clearance for tuberculosis; seasonal influenza immunization. Other health requirements may be needed by specific health care agencies for clinical experiences. Documentation required of current healthcare provider level of CPR-BLS. Criminal background clearance and drug/alcohol testing may be required for clinical experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous didactic and clinical teaching experience.
• Experience in critical care settings
