Description of Duties:
The Director of the ELACI (English Language and American Cultural Institute) will develop, market, implement, supervise, and evaluate a founding ELACI program at Bentley University. This new program will provide high-quality business-oriented English language instruction and English for Special Purposes classes to a target audience of international students and international executives as well as others desiring a high quality ESL experience. Students may be matriculated Bentley students or non-matriculated domestic or international students.
Additional Description of Duties: The director will supervise all aspects of this program including developing both short-term and long-term goals for ELACI programming, and managing the budget with the Dean of Arts and Sciences and his staff.
This person will be responsible for developing and evaluating the curriculum and course materials. Will also coordinate course schedules, and will oversee the hiring, supervision and evaluation of ESOL teachers.
Other duties include planning and supervising placement tests to place ESOL students in appropriate ESOL class levels.
The director will be marketing the ELACI program and recruiting ESOL students for the ELACI program domestically and internationally. This position will be working with other university offices to maintain the ELACI program's connection to these departments, centers and offices on campus.
There will be some anticipated job related traveling off the Bentley Campus.
Masters degree in a field related to ESOL. We will consider other related program experience that demonstrates an ability to work and understand international students from diverse cultural backgrounds. 5 years of higher education program management preferred. Must be personable and innovative. Must be proficient in speaking, writing and listening to the English language. Must have knowledge of at least one other language other than English.
International living experience and/or prior interactions with international students or executives preferred. Computer proficiency required, knowledge of social media helpful. A willingness to work with other departments, faculty & staff on the Bentley campus.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
License(s) Required for the Position: Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver's license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley's insurance carrier.
