Quinnipiac University invites applications for an Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs to provide guidance and support to senior administrators and faculty on matters that impact faculty roles and responsibilities. Supports all faculty business processes. Supports the VP for Academic Affairs in managing faculty specific policy, procedures and guidelines.  We seek an individual who is committed to the mission and vision of the University, who has a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, service to students, and a sense of community.

Responsibilities

  • Faculty administration/record keeping and support in key internal systems and databases
  • Manages all faculty business processes, such as re-appointment, promotion and tenure, credentialing, office assignments, etc.
  • Interpretation of Faculty Handbook on faculty matters
  • Scheduling and support for faculty tenure and reviews
  • Provides policy guidance as needed on faculty roles and responsibilities
  • Serves as an ombudsperson for faculty
  • Work with Faculty Senate and represent the VPAA to university committees involving administrative oversight of faculty matters as requested
  • Supports operational aspects pertaining to faculty and academic matters including the academic catalog, calendar, and graduation ceremonies.
  • Provides leadership in faculty and academic staff development by designing, implementing and assessing a comprehensive program to assist faculty and staff at all stages of their careers.
  • Plays a key role in the orientation of new faculty members to the university
  • Oversees faculty academic awards
  • Promotes effective Academic Affairs communication and intra-institutional collaborations
  • Active communication and coordination with central Human Resources department to facilitate matters related to faculty relations.

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants

Successful candidates should have:

  • Wide ranging academic administration experience at a mid to larger sized university, to include experience such as associate dean, department chair, or director of a major academic program;
  • A terminal degree in a field of professional qualification;
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Flawless attention to detail, follow-up and process management;
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, department chairs, deans, and administrators in units across campus; able to build consensus;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the changes, challenges and opportunities facing faculty in American higher education
  • Personal attributes that include adaptability, flexibility, perseverance, and positive outlook
  • Proven experience of working successfully in a multicultural environment.
