The African and African American Studies Program at IowaStateUniversity invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to start in August 2014. The African and African American Studies Program is a cross-disciplinary program housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. We seek outstanding scholars with expertise in African and African American Studies. The research emphasis of applicants should be appropriate for an appointment in one of the academic departments in the college such as Anthropology, English, History, Philosophy and Religious Studies, Political Science, or Psychology. This position is expected to maintain a nationally visible, active program of scholarship in his/her areas of specialization and teach courses in the Program and in the tenure-home Department.
Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. by August 16, 2014.
In addition, applicants for an Associate Professor appointment must meet university standards for appointment at this rank, including a substantial record of publication.
Experience teaching in African or African American Studies at the collegiate level
Research interests/expertise that complement and build on research strengths in the African and African American Studies Program, tenure home department and IowaStateUniversity
