The Department of Public and Health Administration in the College of Business and Public Management at the University of La Verne is seeking a faculty member for our Gerontology and/or Health Services Management programs to be hired in Fall 2014. This is a tenure track position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level depending on qualifications and experience.
This position offers the candidate the opportunity to join a Department with a growing and committed faculty and to play a key role in planning the future direction of gerontology and health management programs in the Department. Also, the position offers the possibility of collaborative research projects and outreach to the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.
The ideal candidate will have a commitment to excellence and demonstrated ability in teaching and research and be active in gerontology and/or health services organizations and associations. The Department places an emphasis on social and environmental justice issues as well as community sustainability and public policy advocacy.
The Health Services Management graduate and undergraduate programs have been offered at the University of La Verne for over thirty years. The Masters in Gerontology has been in existence for over 15 years. The Department seeks to capitalize on the strong foundation of both programs and their position in rapidly growing fields to further expand the reputation and excellence of these programs.
The person in this new position will primarily teach graduate level courses in the Gerontology and/or Health Administration programs; specific courses based on candidate’s experience. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership skills, teaching experience, strong research skills, and active membership in professional organizations related to healthcare and/or gerontology. The selected candidate is expected to serve on college and university committees.

The work load is split into 60/30/10 with teaching representing 60% of the work load, research and scholarly activities for 30%, and community service and community engagement for 10%. Faculty is expected to teach six courses per year at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in healthcare management, health services management, gerontology, public health, or related field. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a complete background investigation.
