Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Director of Innovation in Instruction and Technology supervises the planning, development, implementation, and management of the various programs, projects, and services provided by the unit; leads staff toward achieving goals in support of the unit, division, and university mission(s); serves university faculty, academic department leadership, administrations, and othe relevant audiences to promote innovation and efficiency in teaching and learning activities; plans and impelments budgtes, policies, and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation of programs.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
* Oversees operation of the unit to ensure pursuit and achievement of unit goals in consultation with the Sr. Director of Distance Education, and in coordination with te mission of UVU.
* Leads, manages, and supports a diverse staff of technology and educational professionals: associate directors, lab managers, instructional designers and technologists, research assistants, trainers, etc.
* Initiates and implements pilot and long-term innnovation projects thar utliize a vareity of existing and new technologies, instructional methods, and learning theories. Reports results of projects, research, and other activities to appropriate departmental leadership, university departments, and national and international audiences.
* Analyzes campus needs for educational technology innovation through research, formative evaluation, coordination with administration, consultation with faculty, and attention to learners.
 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a masters degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Instructional Psychology, Education or related and three years experience related to the summary of duties; OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years experience related to the summary of duties.
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Knowledge of current trends and theory in instructional technologies, instructional design and innovative teaching methods.
* Experience managing a department; ability to produce budgets and financial proposals such as grants.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
* Skills in a variety of educational technologies including major learning management systems (e.g. Canvas, Moodle), collaborative platforms, social media, etc.
* Ability to research, evaluate, produce, and exchange information with experts in field of educational technology.
* Ability to plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative learning media and experiences in coordination with faculty and staff.
* Experience teaching post-secondary learners, adult learners, or faculty both face-to-face and online.
