Detailed Job Description

The Temporary Assistant Director will provide support in workshop development and/or augmentation, including assisting the Director with planning, assessment and implementation of distance and on-line learning, and partnering with faculty and academic staff in the exploration and use of instructional technologies. Duties will include creating literature reviews on a variety of pedagogy-related topics, providing training for faculty, including preparation of instructional materials, workshop planning, program development and consultation services on course design and web course development. 
Conduct relevant research, both internal and external to the University, in teaching and learning theory in online/hybrid courses with the goal of applying current theory to course offerings. Assist the Director with evaluation of instructional technologies and write research reports for campus consumption. Conduct and maintain department assessments for the delivery of instructional design services to faculty and colleges/departments. Work with the Director to develop and implement strategies to improve academic quality and retention.

Specific Duties

Organize certification seminars for faculty in online and hybrid teaching and learning. Certify that instructor’s course content includes interactivity and engaging materials. Certify that course content is commensurate with the Carnegie Unit. Act as a liaison between certification process and Program Chairs.

Develop and maintain educational resources for faculty including software training courses, YouTube Channel material and other on-demand media.

Assist the director in planning faculty development events that support innovative teaching through workshops, symposia, and faculty led teaching panels. Present to small groups, departments/programs and college wide meetings.

Conduct formative and summative research geared toward program improvement for CTL, comparative research on instructional technology applications as applied to the University of La Verne.

Other duties as assigned by the Director

Minimum Qualifications

An advanced degree in Education or Educational Technology or equivalent experience preferred

3-5 years experience in faculty development, certification, and training in Higher Education, content creation experience using current authoring tools.

Excellent presentation skills as well as verbal and written skills.

Expertise in current content authoring systems and related media editing
