The Department of Applied Business Sciences and Economics in the College of Business and Public Management at the University of La Verne is seeking a candidate to fill a tenure track position in accounting beginning with the 2014/2015 academic year. The University of La Verne is an independent, private institution of higher education with a strong emphasis on excellence in teaching both traditional-aged and adult students, and a growing emphasis on research and publication. The University community is a welcoming campus environment that is respectful of cultural diversity. The College of Business and Public Management offers a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA with a concentration in accounting and will offer a new Master of Accountancy program in January 2014. The College serves approximately 4300 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in various programs such as Business Administration, Health Administration, Leadership and Management, and Public Administration. The selected candidate will have an opportunity to join the growing, committed faculty and to play a key role in planning the future direction and growth of the College.
The work load is split into 60/30/10 with teaching representing 60% of the work load, research and scholarly activites for 30%, and community service and community engagement for 10%. Faculty is expected to teach six courses per year at the greaduate and/or undergraduate level.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in accounting from an institution accredited by AACSB. Candidates with professional experience in related fields are encouraged to apply.
