Assistant Professor of Theatre, Full-time Tenure Track
Responsibilities include teaching a variety of theatre courses that may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Theatre, Basic Acting, Advanced Acting (including acting styles), Speaking Voice, Advanced Voice, Dialects, Performance of Literature (Solo & Group) and other classes as assigned. Potential to teach Theatre History, Improvisational Theatre, Stage Movement, Stage Combat, Acting for the Camera, and Directing. Teach four classes (12 credit hours) with the potential to direct up to two productions per academic year (3 credits per production). Work with theatre faculty and staff to develop and maintain theatre program curriculum and facilities. Engage in professional development and service activities in the discipline and participate in advising activities within discipline. Demonstrate the ability to support established departmental philosophies and processes while collaborating with other faculty, administration, students, staff, guest artists and diverse communities. Perform additional duties to be assigned by Chair of Theatre Program. This position reports to the Chair of Theatre. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.

Required Qualifications: An MFA plus three years of theatre experience in a professional setting; or Master’s Degree plus four years of theatre experience in a professional setting; or Doctorate Degree plus two years of theatre experience in a professional setting. Degree must be in theatre or related field. Degree must be completed by date of application.
Theatre performance and instruction with advanced training in acting and speaking voice and dialects at the university level; experience, training and demonstrated excellence as a theatre director (both non-musicals and musicals) at the professional or collegiate level; experience, training and demonstrated excellence as a performer; experience in teaching Introduction to Theatre, Basic Acting, Advanced Acting (including acting styles), Stage Movement, Improvisational Theatre, Performance of Literature (Solo & Group), Musical Theatre History and Performance, Theatre History, Stage Combat, Acting for the Camera, and Directing courses. University-level teaching experience is preferred. Experience working with a diverse student population is desirable.
