Saint Anselm College, in Manchester, New Hampshire seeks an Area Coordinator for Residential Life & Education. This full-time professional staff position is a live-in, 12 month position, reporting directly to the director of residential life and education with duties coordinated by the Director, Assistant Director or Dean of Students. This person oversees one or more residence halls including 400 to 800 residents, supervising and coordinating the operations, staffing, and training for assigned areas; manages and/or coordinates duties such as housing lottery, room assignments, opening/closing procedures, maintenance/custodial priorities, etc. Serves as building services liaison and coordinates supervision of desk assistants in halls. Develops and implements training and development programs. Provides leadership to Resident Directors and Resident Assistants to promote and ensure an atmosphere in the residence hall communities and on campus that is conducive to self-direction, academic achievement, social and cultural maturity and self-discipline; works to encourage civic, ethical and professional responsibility. Develops campus programming relative to residential programs and leadership development; may include developing and/or implementing new student orientation, student government association, hall council enactment, etc. Assists with summer conference work and summer housing in the residence halls and assists with the administration of theme housing programs. This person will also serve as the judicial hearing officer and liaison to the judicial office, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to; assists resident directors with disciplinary interventions/referrals; serves as advisor to hall councils and provides support and availability to students and resident assistants and directors as needed. Administrative duties such as generating reports and/or analyses.
A master’s degree in student personnel, counseling, behavioral science or a related field, along with two years experience in housing/residence life; resident assistant and/or hall government experience preferred. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to student development, safety, diversity and social justice as well as familiarity and respect of the traditions of a Catholic higher education. People oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; excellent planning and organizational skills, capable of working in a high-energy, high-traffic area. Must be proficient with Microsoft word, excel, e-mail and other database applications. Some driving may be required; ability to work days, with nightly on-call duty as scheduled.
