Job Responsibilities

• Conducts information security risk assessments. Manages/monitors network firewalls, intrusion prevention, web security, email security, virtual private network, security information and event management system and public key infrastructure. Investigates intrusion attempts and maintains a secure college network
• Administers and manages the electronic security systems for the College-wide network infrastructure
• Administers and manages the electronic security systems for the College-wide network infrastructure
• Recommends and implements new information security procedures to ensure College-wide compliance
• Recommends software and hardware security tools to be installed College-wide
• Operate and maintains tools to ensure a secure environment
• Coordinates with local and federal law enforcement in information security investigations
• Conducts necessary training to promote information security awareness
• Provides information security news and alerts to the college-wide community
• Coordinates activities with network technicians, enterprise application support and desktop support personnel
• Perform daily/weekly/monthly security monitoring tasks
• Works with departments to ensure the College is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local legislative requirements
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
• Minimum two years of experience in Network or System Administration and Security
• Experience with Firewall configurations; VPN setup/administration; client authentication and remediation services; intrusion detection and prevention services
• Experience with Microsoft windows server and client operating systems, Active Directory, Apple operating systems, Linux, Cisco IOS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
• Comprehensive knowledge of network architectures, protocols, equipment and designs
• Knowledge of information security products and utilities
• Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently yet also work well with teams, in a technical and non-technical capacity
• Planning and organizational skills
• Sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
• Experience setting up enterprise level Local Area Networks with Cisco hardware
• Experience with mobility wireless networks
• Experience with IP based communication: voice and video, including streaming technologies
• Experience with IP based Storage Area Networking
• Experience in monitoring, administering, securing, and maintaining network resources through the usage of Cisco’s Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), Websense web security gateway, Palo Alto Next Generation firewalls
• Experience in a programming language and/or a scripting environment
• Experience with databases including Oracle and SQL
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange
• Experience performing SQL queries
• Demonstrated experience and success in making modifications and enhancements as needed; performing formal network architecture reviews and network auditing; troubleshooting and resolving issues related to performance, security, reliability, and functionality; providing regular formal network Security statistics and reports in a timely manner
• Experience on an incident response team or as a system network administrator on a large network
• Experience in Information Risk Management
• Security certifications are a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
• Able to travel to all campus locations within the Cuyahoga Community College sites, offsite meetings, vendor locations, and other business units

Work Schedule

Standard College hours of business 8:30AM – 5PM, Monday through Friday.

Hours may vary based on the needs of the business unit.
