Job Responsibilities

•Input, audit and balance payroll reports prior to sending file to bank
•Oversee and prepare required payroll deductions and reporting, including taxes and remittance of withholding to third parties
•Review and reconcile W-2 error report
•Process employee requests such as subpoenas and public record requests
•Maintain and audit time and leave reporting via the College website
•Attend new employee orientation sessions and present training on timesheet submissions
•File institution-generated documents and secure their access through Banner Document Management Suite (BDMS) for record retention
•Assist with the development of procedures, reporting, processes and technology applications as directed using various College systems
•Respond orally or in writing to all payroll processing questions in a timely manner
•Continually maintain effective Red Flags Rule internal controls
•Anticipate and meet all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction
•Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•High school diploma or GED
•Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible Payroll experience
•Experience in processing payroll transactions to general ledger

•Basic accounting skills
•Proficiency in computerized systems and Microsoft Office Suite applications
•Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
•Analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
•High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
•Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
•Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships
•Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

•Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
•Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
•Payroll experience in an academic environment or multi-state organization
•Experience with Ellucian Systems and Computer Technology Banner system

•Proven database development skills in Access or Oracle applications
•Working knowledge and experience with STRS and PERS reporting

Work Schedule

Standard College hours of business Monday – Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM. Hours may vary based on business unit needs.
