Detailed Job Description

Consider joining the residential life program at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. In order to deliver high quality programs and services to resident students, we have an immediate opening for a Complex Director position that will be responsible for overseeing the development, operation and management of a comprehensive program within a designated residential area. The program operates under student development theory and supports the overall mission of Student Affairs. This is a full-time, 12 month position (live-in requirement).  

QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s Degree in Student Personnel or related field required.  Experience with student staff supervision, residential life programming, technology, and working knowledge of card access systems is desirable.  Ability to interface with individuals from diverse backgrounds is essential.

Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Residence Education, the Complex Director is responsible for the following:

  • Assists residential students in the areas of student learning outcomes, and the facilitation of students’ adjustment to college and residential life.  Coordinates development of community among residents within assigned complex.
  • Provides opportunities for individual student growth through advising and programming by maintaining community and individual standards.
  • Coordinates the implementation, evaluation, and assessment of the residential life programming model (including the First Year Experience and the Living Learning Communities), and interfaces with the College’s ULTRA Program.  Coordinate and support evening programming.
  • Facilitates student staff selection, training, and performance appraisals. Supervises and develops student staff.
  • Resides in on–campus housing, participates in some evening, weekend and holiday duty responsibilities and serves as a continuous contact for students. 
  • Assumes departmental responsibilities during the summer, related to camps/conferences, summer housing assignments, staff training, publications, orientation, and other special projects.
  • Holds educational and developmental meetings with residents regarding student code of conduct violations.
  • Serve as a liaison to other offices on campus, including but not limited to the Stockton Police, Dining Services, the Wellness Center, and the fire safety inspector.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant, Associate Director, Director of Residential Life, Dean of Students, and/or the Vice President for Student Affairs.

SALARY:  $43,724.75 with increases in the appropriately established compensation plan.
