-Conduct in-depth prospect research for individual major gift prospects; analyze, interpret, and evaluate biographical, business, personal, and financial information for current and prospective donors.
-Produce clear and precise research briefs, profiles, and reports.
-Provide verbal interpretation of research to guide development officers in the development of cultivation and solicitation strategies.
-Develop, document, and implement policies and procedures for managing prospect research information.
-Assist with portfolio organization and management.
-Assist in training Advancement staff on prospect research procedures and database management.
-Attend professional events as directed/budgeted and network with other donor research professionals to keep current with best practices.
-Help create and prepare Excel charts and graphs showing various major gift metrics.
-Assist the development staff in working within Raiser's Edge to improve the efficient retrieval and analysis of prospect information.
-Develop queries, downloads and other reports both individually and in conjunction with others for the benefit of the development officers.
-Help create and maintain prospect management processes and techniques.
-Recommend new research and database products and services for the research department.
DATA MINING EFFORTS
-Oversee all wealth screening strategies, including analyzing and verifying wealth screening data to identify new major gift and campaign prospects.
-Work to develop processes to use news alerts and recent gifts to the University to identify new prospects.
-Guide independent in-house data mining efforts to uncover patterns in constituent giving for various development initiatives.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or related work experience and a minimum of three years of development research experience. Administrative experience in project management, implementation and evaluation, and an understanding of organizational processes and systems are also required. Knowledge of current research technologies and information search techniques, including online library sources, pay-subscription sources, public records, and Internet research. Strong writing, communication, collaborative and interpersonal skills. Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel and database software. Expectation to work well within a team while demonstrating initiative in individual projects. Intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in philanthropy research. Ability to manage complex processes and procedures with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality on a wide spectrum of topics and issues for which discretion is required.
