Detailed Job Description

Responsibilities will include:

  • Analyze the business needs of the end users, understand the business aims of the organization, and provide solutions through various reports
  • Responsible for overseeing the creation, collection, input, management, dissemination, and analysis of data and information that supports campaign fundraising efforts.
  • Oversees efforts to ensure that donors are made aware of their pledge payment schedule, their outstanding balances, and to work with finance to cancel or write off pledge balances where appropriate.
  • Reports and working with front line fundraising staff and support (65%)
  • Develops implements and evaluates new business processes and the specifications for new and enhanced reporting to ensure consistent implementation of business policies and adherence to data and reporting procedures. 

CAADS / Operations: 

  • Manages and fulfills requests for systems’ security access for on-boarding of new staff and exiting staff.
  • Authorized requestor for new user accounts or account changes. Educates users on CAADS and on local policies and procedures.
  • Attends monthly CAADS local product manager meetings (LPM)
  • Train DAR staff on the use of encrypted security software to ensure confidential data is transferred properly and securely.
  • Manages, oversees access to the system, training, maintenance of confidentiality policies and forms, and communication of system information to DAR from university leaders. 

Gift Management:

  • Produce and develops and executes the marketing and solicitation of mail pledge reminders and/or, pledge statements throughout the year.
  • Works with finance office and the Office of the Recording Secretary (RSO) to monitor aging balances and to write off and cancel balances where appropriate.
  • Manages flow of documentation for gift entry to RSO.
  • Serves as a liaison with GSE major gift officers, GSE Alumni and Donor Information Services, university and school based gift officers, and planned giving officers for accuracy of gift detail in advance for gifts to GSE that are split between schools or special university  gifts.
  • Manages process of new fund creation – facilitates communication between fundraises and RSO until fund is created.
  • Works with gift officers for complicated donor giving histories and manages clean up and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with minimum 3-5+ years experience in fundraising in an academic setting, administration or transferable experience.  Excellent computer literacy required; must have experience with Windows and databases. 

Additional Qualifications

The position requires a good command of leadership and collaboration skills, operational skills, and professionalism. Candidate must possess good judgment and a high level of maturity. Must have good familiarity with working with data and senior management and be committed to the mission of the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the objectives of the Development and Alumni Relations Department. The qualified candidate will have the ability to multi – task, knowledge and familiarity of working in academic institutions and Harvard preferred.

We are looking for someone who exhibits great attention to detail and had the ability to produce clear documentation. Must be a self-starter / motivated to learn, flexible to change and innovative. Must be an effective problem solver and resourceful. Must have excellent organizational skills and experience working with SQL, Toad, ADVANCE and Hyperion preferred.
