Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to education, research and healthcare is seeking applicants and nominations for the Banpu Endowed Chair in the Center for Sustainability, an independent, interdisciplinary degree-granting center at Saint Louis University. Established in 2010 by a grant from the Alberici Foundation, the Center for Sustainability provides a unique, multidisciplinary master's degree in sustainability, which is the first and only one of its kind among Jesuit universities. Participating disciplines include business, engineering, urban planning, social work, and environmental sciences. Also, the Center for Sustainability offers a master's of urban planning and real estate development, a joint MBA and masters of Sustainability in conjunction with the John Cook School of Business, and a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Advanced Remote Sensing. Also, the Center for Sustainability includes the Norman J. Stupp GIS Laboratory and the Center for Environmental Sciences that offers a research and educational environment to examine the interaction of the solid earth, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere, and how humans are interacting with these systems. The Banpu Endowed Chair was established with a generous donation by the Banpu Public Company Limited of Thailand. The successful candidate for the Banpu Chair will be expected have a sustained and highly active record of externally-funded research, including a record of scholarly publications in well-respected journals and other venues, and a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in a field relevant to the Center for Sustainability, such as in the natural or applied sciences, engineering, urban planning, or business administration. Superior communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary research with faculty inside and outside the Center for Sustainability are also required attributes. Practical experience as well as being professionally active and visible in national/international societies will be considered desirable assets.
