Description of Duties:
Reporting to the Director, Advancement Services, the Sr. Advancement Database Analyst independently revises, evaluates, and maintains University Advancement's primary alumni/donor database system, Millenium, thus ensuring a high-quality resource for internal divisional operations. This function oversees the daily technical performance of Millennium and the integrity of the data contained therein. Through operating, monitoring, and tuning this critical database, and by supporting staff efforts to utilize the database and report from it, this person plays a key role in achieving the university's Development goals.
Additional Description of Duties: Coordinate and manage all Millennium system maintenance including system alerts, options, user security, and utilities including Standard and Custom. Document technical processes and workflows.
Work with IT to monitor the Oracle database including: monitoring system performance, security, and data integrity; planning and supervising timely software upgrades; planning, monitoring, and implementing backups and restoring if necessary; designing database views; developing SQL queries; and troubleshooting network, software, and connectivity issues.
Work with University Advancement staff to reengineer existing processes and streamline current work.
Design and troubleshoot system interfaces, including Banner, Harris, iModules, Ruffalo Cody, Campus Call and others.
Develop new processes, forms, and databases in Test environment and apply in Production environment. Test architected solutions before implementation.
Support the reporting needs of the division by providing complex reports. Provide Millennium training and support to internal divisional staff.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus 5 years of relevant database and application systems experience, preferably in higher education or fundraising. Demonstrated extensive technical, systems analysis and programming skills required. Experience with Relational Database Management, Access, Crystal Reports, Cognos reports and Millennium fundraising software preferred. Advanced written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
