Washington State University (WSU) Extension is seeking two motivated individuals to support our Extension education programs in the areas of program evaluation and volunteer development. These two positions will significantly increase WSU Extension’s capacity to develop, deliver and assess high quality programs by training faculty and volunteers, and participating and leading efforts in their respective area.

Official title is Extension Specialist, E-2 or E-3 (assistant or associate professor equivalent) for full-time, 12-month appointments. These are non-tenure track faculty positions. Each hire will become a member of one of three WSU Extension Program Units and will be accountable to that Unit’s Director and Associate Dean and Director of WSU Extension.

These positions will be located at the WSU regional campus in Spokane, Washington.

Position Descriptions

Program Evaluation Specialist

The Program Evaluation Specialist will provide leadership for increasing WSU Extension's capacity to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of its educational programs. Key outcomes of the evaluation program include:

  • Improved program evaluation leading to more effective reporting of program outcomes and impacts, and improved program quality;
  • Expanded knowledge base among WSU Extension faculty and staff in the area program evaluation;
  • Enhanced faculty skills in securing extramural funding.

 Required:  Master’s degree; Experience in program evaluation; Experience in acquiring extramural funding to support programs; Team leadership skills and/or the ability to work well in teams. Preferred:  PhD degree; Experience in quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods; Ability to communicate ideas effectively verbally, in writing, and through the use of educational technology; Demonstrated excellence in leading continuing education and training for professionals; Experience in disseminating results, innovative approaches and methods in scholarly outlets; Experience in evaluating programs that serve diverse audiences; Demonstrated skills in organization and management;

Volunteer Development Specialist

This position will provide leadership in the management of volunteers working to support WSU Extension programs. Key outcomes of the volunteer development program include:

  • Improved volunteer training, monitoring and tracking to maximize the effectiveness of volunteer-based programs;
  • Reduce risk associated with activities executed by, or with participation of, volunteers;
  • Enhance the experience of volunteers by creating rewarding opportunities to participate in safe and constructive      volunteer-based programming and activities.
