FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITION: DEVELOPMENTAL WRITING: Department of Academic Preparation, (Division of Foundational Studies and Liberal Arts & Sciences). (MCCC/MTA Unit Position) Anticipated Start Date: January, 2014. Contingent on funding.
Teach primarily Developmental Writing courses and an occasional Composition course. Additional responsibilities include: collaborate with the Developmental Writing Curriculum Coordinator to design, create and deliver a comprehensive developmental writing curriculum; participate in writing alignment activities; assist with the assessment and evaluation of developmental writing students; work cooperatively with the Writing Center to offer support services to students; advise students; maintain office hours; and participate in college service. Teaching assignments may require travel to the Lawrence and Haverhill campuses. Other related responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Dean.
Master’s degree in English, Composition/Rhetoric, or equivalent. Equivalent of two years’ experience teaching developmental writing at the college level. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching. Demonstrated willingness and ability to integrate appropriate technology into teaching strategies. Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within and across disciplines. Must possess excellent communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to assisting educationally disadvantaged, first generation, multi-cultural, bilingual and developmental college student populations essential. Demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive community college mission.
Community college teaching experience. Experience with alternative modes of delivery of writing skills (web-based, modularized, or accelerated instruction; learning communities) to students of varying abilities. Bilingual/Bicultural (Spanish/English).
Salary: Anticipated starting salary range is $42,921.00 - $65,000.00 per academic year; complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with classification determination of MCCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
