Assistant Professor of Psychology

Job Description Summary 

The University of La Verne’s Department of Psychology invites applications for one full-time, ten-month, Tenure track position. This position will begin with the 2014-2015 academic year. The specific areas of specialization are open, but the ideal candidate would be able to teach a variety of courses in both our undergraduate and masters (marriage and family therapy) program. Applicants from a number of degree emphasis areas including (but not limited to) clinical, counseling, developmental, experimental, social, cognitive, or physiological psychology will be considered.

Specific Duties 

Responsibilities include: teaching six courses a year (equivalent to no less than 18 semester hours) divided between the Undergraduate Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy programs. Applicants are also expected to maintain an independent research program and to advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Qualifications include: a Ph.D in any of the degree emphasis areas listed above; record of excellence or potential in teaching; a demonstrated history of scholarly research and the potential to continue such work, and a commitment to quality teaching and scholarship in a comprehensive liberal arts university with a commitment to multiculturalism and a very diverse student body. Applicants from clinical or counseling backgrounds must come from an APA-accredited doctoral program; have completed an APA-accredited internship, and possess the ability to be licensed in California within 3 years of initial employment. Members from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
