Detailed Job Description

Saint Anselm College is seeking an organized, creative and enthusiastic supporter of undergraduate liberal arts education in the Catholic, Benedictine tradition. Under the supervision of the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving coordinates and carries out the cultivation and solicitation of annual fund dollars, mainly through personal solicitation of alumni, parents and friends. Having the primary responsibility of raising annual fund dollars, the Assistant Director will also recruits and work with reunion volunteers, including class agents and reunion gift chairs. The qualified candidate will also manage the Scholarship Golf Tournament; arranging facilities and preparing and organizing all necessary materials while working closely with the alumni office and development staff.

A creative entrepreneurial approach will be needed to effectively solicit and cultivate donors at appropriate levels. In order to increase participation and dollars to The Saint Anselm Fund, the assistant director must thrive on identifying, prospecting, networking with and soliciting alumni, parents and friends, thereby building relationships involving high level contacts inside and outside the College. The Assistant Director of Annual Giving maintains a strict personal visit goal that results in a minimum of 8 President’s Society solicitations per month and meets a monthly and yearly dollar goal.

Bachelor’s degree required along with sufficient experience in higher education fundraising or comparable work. Excellent communication and customer relations skills required; ability to make cold calls and ask for contributions is essential. Maintains prospect tracking records and reports accurately and efficiently. Must be able to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals/groups within and outside the college. Ability to travel and work nights and weekends as required.
