Saint Mary’s College of California, one of the nation’s finest liberal arts colleges, seeks a Vice Provost for Enrollment and Communications.  The successful candidate will make a strong impact on the life and future of the College by contributing to strategic directions, planning and coordinating admissions and student financial aid, and advancing the College’s identity through communications and marketing. 

Responsible for overall strategic positioning for enrollment and communications, this vice provost will lead the College’s efforts to recruit the most talented and best suited students and communicate with all critical audiences, both internal and external to the College.  As a member of the senior leadership, he or she will report to the Provost and work with other senior leaders to analyze and understand the competitive landscape of liberal arts education and position and market Saint Mary’s effectively.

Experience and Qualifications:

Saint Mary’s new vice provost will be an experienced enrollment leader with strong analytical skill and great talent and finesse as a strategist and manager.  He or she will be a practiced and nuanced communicator with an ability to work effectively with the College’s many audiences.  He or she will be familiar with all the areas reporting to this post and have a proven record of achievement in at least two, with one being admissions. 

An engaging, open and affirming personal style as well as the ability to contribute to the Saint Mary’s academic mission and identity, a reflection of the intersection of its liberal arts, Catholic and Lasallian traditions, will be important.  Evidence of effective collaboration to increase student success and establish a culture of commencement is preferred. The ability to build relationships and work inclusively and productively with diverse people and offices is essential.
