This is a part-time position at 26.25 hours per week. This is also a limited appointment position with an end date of June 30, 2014. This position is not eligible for severance pay.
The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CELT) is a University-wide resource to promote teaching excellence among its faculty, and to collaborate with existing initiatives in different schools at the university. The center is directed Donna M. Qualters, Associate Professor in the Department Community Medicine and Public Health and Adjunct Associate Professor of Education. CELT reports to the Associate Provost for Faculty Development. It offers a variety of programming for faculty and administrators, works with individual departments in Tufts seven colleges on Educational Initiatives, oversees various grants, co-sponsors the Academic Leadership Development Program, supports the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and co-sponsors a teaching institute for graduate students. The Senior Teaching and Learning Specialist's key responsibilities will include the design, development, implementation and evaluation of both new programming initiatives and current CELT programming. This position will also be part of a collaborative team that will work to develop new programming to meet the needs of faculty as the new Strategic Plan unfolds. This position will assume primary responsibility for CELT teaching enhancement programming such as book groups, afternoon teaching discussions, and teaching consultations. She/he will also contribute to the public image and communication such as the CELT website and the Teaching @ Tufts site.
• PhD, EdD or advanced professional degree
• Three (3) years of experience in a higher education environment
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to travel to the different Tufts campuses
• Must successfully complete all appropriate background checks as required
Previous experience working with faculty development programming or providing training to faculty to support educational innovations. Experience with program oversight and previous teaching experience at the post secondary level would be a plus. Ph.D in a related field.
