Responsibilities

This temporary position will work 37.5 hours per week  from July 1 – August 31, 2013 and 20 hours per wekk from September 1-30, 2013

Summary:
 
Provides skilled, knowledgeable support for a campus images digitization project.  Several thousand original images will be identified, tracked, and sorted in-house and then digitized by a vendor.  Under the direction of the Campus Archivist, responsibilities involve retrieving, collating, sorting, and labeling images for digitization and re-filing originals after digitization. Responsible for creating and maintaining both tracking data and cataloging/metadata and for uploading digital files into the archival database management system. 


Experience and Qualifications:

 Knowledgeable about archives principles, practices, and procedures either through coursework, practical experience, or both.  Requires a meticulous and detail-oriented focus.  Strong organizational skills and experience with digitization a plus. Experience with online searching, data entry, and Excel spreadsheets. Must be able to lift and carry boxes of up to 40 pounds and be able to work both individually and as part of a team. Job involves sitting, bending, and standing and working in close quarters.
