Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Residential Life, the Associate Director of Residence Education will be responsible for supervising (7) professional, full-time Complex Directors, one administrative assistant and indirect oversight for (88) Resident Assistants that are a part of a residential life program housing over 2,800 students. This person assists with the overall operation of the residential life program by serving as a senior member of the Residential Life Leadership Team. The Associate Director actively participates in college-wide and department committees. He/she supervises all residential education initiatives within the department. Primary roles and responsibilities consist of coordinating supervision, training, selection, and evaluation efforts for professional and paraprofessional staff within the Office of Residential Life. Providing oversight, leadership, education, and development for the staff is essential. Overseeing the planning, development and implementation of programmatic efforts based on a residential life curriculum, model falls under the direction of this staff member. The Associate Director collaborates with external offices such as Wellness, Campus Police, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Student Development, Career Center, Plant Management, Admissions and Athletics. The Associate Director participates in on call responsibilities.
Master’s Degree required, preferably in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personal, or a related field; five years of professional experience in Residential Life and/or Student Affairs; preference will be given to those who have made professional advancement in residential life and/or student affairs; must offer expertise in programming, staff training and crisis management. Two to five year’s experience supervising professional staff is required.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm; some evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
