Instructor:  a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the disciplines being taught, evidence of ability or promise as an effective teacher and evidence of the ability to do continuing scholarly or creative activity and no experience required

Assistant Professor:   an earned doctoral degree, 18 graduate hours in the disciplines being taught, minimum 3 years teaching experience with evidence of ability or promise as an effective teacher and evidence of the ability to do continuing scholarly or creative activity

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/ETC.:   Marked competence and considerable perspective in his/her respective field of study; ability to proofread and good knowledge of English; good language and grammatical skills; good organization skills; operational and interpretative skills of equipment used in the department, experience in academic course and laboratory design; must demonstrate evidence of steady professional growth and competence in teaching, scholarly or creative activity; good personnel supervisory skills; thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations as associated with courses taught in their respective discipline; professional dress and demeanor; professional attitude; willingness to work overtime as needed; positive attitude and willingness to work with other faculty as part of a team and be supportive of the University.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Be knowledgeable and conversant with the mission and goals of the Parker University, College of Chiropractic and the Center for Academics. Be knowledgeable with the policies and procedures of the University and be willing to enforce the policies and procedures of the University. To lead by example. To be an effective teacher and to show steady professional growth and competency in teaching and scholarly and creative activities.
  • Be familiar with and abide by the policies and directions as set forth in the Faculty Handbook, including policies regarding time on campus, office hours, punctually, absenteeism, and personal leave.
  • If assigned as a Course Director, oversee the development of the course syllabus and calendar and be responsible for posting this information on the Parker University, College of Chiropractic Academic website.
  • Keep and maintain the confidentiality of course grades.
  • Determine and arrange course needs (equipment, supplies, appropriate textbooks, etc.).
  • Communicate on a frequent basis with the other members of the team responsible for course delivery.
  • Keep respective course files current and complete.
  • In courses where there are labs, it is the Course Directors responsibility to ensure team members are adequately prepared with materials to be presented in lab and that each lab receive the same level of instruction.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding faculty, staff and institutional events as may be appropriate.
  • Attend all scheduled or called faculty meetings, committee meetings, graduations or other events as assigned and as appropriate for the College.
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or reports as may be required by the Department Chairperson and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Follow the appropriate chain of command and communication.
  • Submit final grades in a timely manner as instructed by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Maintain interest, involvement with, and stay current with the scientific research in their respective instructional disciplines.
  • Teach core factual information and differentiate opinion from fact so the student can make the appropriate distinction.
  • Administer student/faculty evaluation forms to classes as directed by the respective Department Chairperson/Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and the appropriate professional dress and demeanor.
  • All other duties/projects as assigned by the Department Chair.
