Detailed Job Description

PART-TIME ADVISOR/ COACH CAEPP ESOL CAREER PATHWAY BRIDGE (CPB) PROGRAM: ( 8-12 hours/week; 650 hours annually); hours to be determined; requires afternoon, evening and Saturday hours. (MCCC/MTA Unit Position)

The Advisor/ Coach will provide, coordinate, and document all advising, and provide learners with support services and guidance to assist them in meeting their educational and career goals.  Reports to the CPB Coordinator.

  • Collaborate with Coordinator; assist with intake, assessment, recruitment.
  • Attend required staff meetings.
  • Provide individualized education and career planning and advising for employment and post-secondary education/training opportunities.
  • Assist students to identify education and career goals and develop an individualized Education and Career Pathway plan.
  • Use college data and labor market trend information to inform career planning.
  • Document and maintain all advising in a confidential record.
  • Refer students (as needed) to community resources to enhance academic supports and address barriers to attendance (e.g. childcare, transportation, disability/health issues, domestic violence, housing, food/fuel assistance, mental health issues, etc.)
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure that student goals inform instruction.
  • Assist students to identify and set goals; and set a realistic timeline for attaining each goal and a means for determining whether the goals are achieved.
  •  Monitor student’s progress toward her/his goals while in the program through regular check-ins and meetings, beginning at enrollment.
  • Follow up every quarter to monitor progress toward and achievement of student goals and ensure that the results of goal follow-up are entered in a database.
  •  Provide follow up on goal achievement after the student leaves the program using the survey method re: student educational progress and goal achievement.
  • Monitor students’ goals and provide feedback and support; monitor and follow up with current and exited students’ goals.
  • Maintain confidential records of advising notes and activities in a locked space; ensure both current and former student goals information are entered into a database.

Salary: $23.79 per hour, no fringe benefits
