Detailed Job Description

Utah Valley University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Coach - Softball. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach - Softball with all aspects of the women's softball program. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to player skill development, practice planning, developing training programs, identification and recruitment of athletically and academically qualified student-athletes, implementing and maintaining a recruiting database, organizing and executing travel arrangements, managing travel budget, equipment management, closely monitoring student-athletes academic needs, assist student athletes in achieving athletic and academic success, scheduling, summer camps, scouting opponents, organizing program fundraising and community service activities, maintaining parent and alumni communication, marketing, social media presence, development of team policies and procedures, knowledge of and adherence to UVU, WAC and NCAA rules and regulations, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
*Assist in the planning, organizing and execution of the university's intercollegiate softball program. Monitor team members' academic eligibility according to requirements.
*Teach and maintain the effective skill level of the Women's Softball Team.
*Promote booster organizations for effective public relations and financial support, as well as school spirit and loyalty. Assists in public relations operations of UVU.
*Assists in scouting future opponents. Prepares scouting reports and helps formulate game plans.
*Identification and recruitment of athletically and academically qualified student athletes, implementing and maintaining a recruiting database.
*Uphold and abide by all UVU, WAC and NCAA regulations, policies and procedures.
*Perform other job related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor degree and two years' experience related to the summary of duties; OR any combination of education and experience totaling 6 year(s).  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of team organization, motivation and strategic skills.
Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic rules and regulations and willingness to uphold and abide by all UVU, WAC and NCAA regulations, policies and procedures.
Skill in public relations, public speaking and team building.
Skill in budget preparation, execution and record keeping.
Skill in planning and organizing competitions and travel schedules.
Skill and ability to recruit, coach and scout student-athletes to perform at an intercollegiate Division I level.
Ability to assist in design and strategies of game plans and coordinate game and practice schedules.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to wide audiences.
Ability to instruct, manages, motivate and evaluate student course work and classroom performance for academic athletic success.
