The Department of Public Relations at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track open rank professor position to teach undergraduate and graduate public relations courses in a student-centered environment, beginning August 2014.  Rank and appointment will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s academic qualifications and professional standing. The position requires the ability to teach in both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Public Relations.

The successful candidate should be able to teach one or more of the following courses for public relations undergraduate majors:  Principles of Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Research, Campaigns, Crisis Management and Public Relations, and/or other areas that complement our existing offerings.

Candidates should also be able to contribute to our MS in Public Relations program by teaching graduate courses such as: Theories of Public Relations, Public Relations Research Methods/Design, Strategic Planning in Public Relations, Public Relations and New Media, as well as direct research theses and/or professional projects. Research and teaching expertise in the field of social media is preferred to support the newly launched Social Media Track in the M.S. in Public Relations program.

Additional responsibilities include developing and/or maintaining an active research agenda leading to scholarly publications; advising and mentoring students; and participating in departmental, school and university committees.

Qualifications and Special Instructions to Applicants
Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and scholarly promise are required. The ability to teach online is preferred.  Preferred qualifications are a Ph.D. in public relations or related field and experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate public relations courses. Advanced ABDs with a verifiable anticipated completion date prior to August 2014 also will be considered.
