JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERTISE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, required.  Master’s degree in Education or related field, preferred.
  • Five (5) years experience in academic support services
  • Experience in a higher education environment working with diverse student populations
  • Proficient in managing and using technology to provide academic support, computerized instruction, maintaining records and producing reports.
  • Knowledge of and ability to teach tutoring techniques.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/ETC.:

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with faculty to improve student learning experiences
  • Experience with peer or professional tutoring programs
  • Experience with the design and integration of technology and alternative delivery systems of instruction in the teaching and learning process
  • Teaching experience

 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Plan, organize, and manage academic support services for Parker University students.
  • Develop and coordinate traditional and innovative online and face-to-face academic support services for students and faculty members (i.e., academic coaching, tutoring initiatives, academic skill development, etc.).
  • Train, hire, and coordinate, as required, professional tutors, learning specialists, and/or peer tutors.
  • Coordinate with faculty, professional tutors, and peer tutors to oversee development of online and face-to-face academic support services (i.e., online tutoring modules, online tutoring sessions, study guides, etc.).
  • Plan, schedule, and teach workshops to assist students, faculty, and staff in a variety of learning resources and tools.
  • Work with faculty members to develop more effective learning experiences and resources for students.
  • Develop methods for assessing the effectiveness of academic support services.
  • Maintain records and statistics related to academic support services.
  • Conduct regular assessment of the effectiveness of academic support services.
  • Coordinate with programs, departments, and faculty members to align and improve resources and tools designed to assist students in developing and improving core academic skills.
