Detailed Job Description

The Financial Aid Advisor counsels and advises students, parents, grandparents, guardians, faculty/staff and other interested parties on a wide variety of financial aid matters. Administers federal aid funding and resolves financial aid issues.

Additional Department Summary:

The position of Financial Aid Advisor is one of multitasking; where they must balance financial aid consumer information duties with those of a federal aid administrator. Advisors are responsible for financial aid decisions relating to federal funding by considering such factors as fund availability, extent of demand, and needs of students. Advisors conduct interviews to obtain pertinent information in order to evaluate the financial needs of applicants to apply knowledge of Federal Title IV Student Assistance Programs and advice. Problems most frequently encountered by the incumbent involve staying current with, dealing with and applying the myriad aspects of changes that relate to federal student aid programs.

Required Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor's degree and one year of experience. Related student employment experience will be considered. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer a bachelor's degree in business, public relations, marketing, communications, education, or counseling and experience working in financial aid at a major university to include a basic knowledge of federal student aid programs. 56 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 29120.04 Midpoint - $ 40767.96
