Detailed Job Description

The IT Technical Specialist II performs a broad scope of professional IT activities requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of IT principles, practices and procedures. Usually requires evaluation, originality or ingenuity.

Additional Department Summary:

This position is responsible for first-level network support activities including basic troubleshooting, ticket support, switch configuration and backup, data closet maintenance (UPS, battery, cables, etc.), and wireless access point configuration. The successful candidate will perform monitoring, administration, and management of network resources as directed. Limited independent network administration and ability to perform occasional after-hours network monitoring and troubleshooting is required.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher and 1 year of experience in a relevant IT field (Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered), OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained. Knowledge of intermediate programming, networking, system, multimedia or instructional technology skills. May require intermediate level training or certification.

Skills and Knowledge:

The applicant should have a basic working knowledge of network fundamentals and must have the ability to communicate technical and non-technical information in a polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, an attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and the ability to research issues as required. Successful candidate without certification will be provided training opportunities towards certification as part of the work responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who have current Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCENT). 57 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 32614.44 Midpoint - $ 47299.20
