Job Responsibilities

• Works with faculty, instructors, and industry business partners to develop and update Public Safety programs and courses in response to changing workforce development needs of students, businesses, industries, and the College
• Develops initiatives and tracks outcomes to increase minority/female recruitment, retention and completion with established baselines and outcomes
• Works with the Office of Integrated Communications to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a career awareness and career exposure recruitment campaign that better aligns the racial/ethnic and male/female composition of the region’s public safety workforce with area demographics
• Interacts with students enrolled in public safety education and training programs and area employers to facilitate job readiness, job preparation and job placement activities
• Continually engages public safety employers to identify and coordinate planning activities for curriculum development
• Enhances the Employer Advisory Committee by establishing proactive collaborative relationships with local schools, businesses, and public safety departments
• Continually ensures program training meets industry needs by developing and generating interactive student, employer, and community relationships
• Maintains awareness of changing employer demands in order to plan and execute curriculum alignment activities
• Plans, coordinates, and oversees a youth-focused Summer Academy
• Plans and implements new Cybercrime certifications and offerings in collaboration with the IT Center of Excellence
• Develops and conducts outreach program to educate members of the community, including youth, about public safety issues and the roles of first responders to promote the programs’ value
• Works collaboratively with the College’s Foundation Office to write proposals, secure funding, etc.
• Assists with the planning and budget management of the Public Safety Education & Training Program
• Works with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure the management and tracking of the associated programs’ scholarship award process and link scholarship assistance with students
• Provides support and relevant data to faculty and instructors in their work to ensure that curriculum and outcomes assessments reflect industry skill standards
• May serve on regional committees and boards related to planning and extending the College’s Public Safety academic opportunities
• Assists in evaluating instructional programs consistent with the College program evaluation process
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of five years demonstrated professional experience with increasing responsibilities related to Public Safety
• Demonstrated experience planning and monitoring a business area’s budget
• Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department
• Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of public safety theories, concepts, and practices with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with demonstrated attention to detail
• Ability to be creative and exercise initiative
• Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to adjust to changing priorities and respond appropriately to deadlines
• Proven leadership skills and ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively
• Demonstrated intermediate Project Management skills
• Ability to develop and effectively executive detailed project management work plans
• Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
• Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality
