Develop and implement a marketing plan for the WSU Health Sciences campus that includes defining the Health Sciences campus brand within the WSU brand.
Participate in the production of marketing materials that will be utilized locally, statewide, and nationally.
Collaborate and coordinate with campus and University communications and marketing colleagues to develop marketing plans that complement one another and synergize each other. Ensure all campuses have an understanding of Spokane’s health sciences focus and how that focus is a strength of the University.
Research marketing plans that are in development or that have been implemented. Using appropriate research methods, study if marketing strategies are creating desired outcomes. Use study data to guide future marketing strategies.
A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field AND three (3) years of professional level experience in marketing, promotional or related work. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Extensive experience in state-wide marketing.
Previous marketing/promotions experience in a health care, medical school or health sciences setting.
Experience working with a team.
Experience working on deadline.
Advanced proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Word, web page authoring on both Windows and Mac platforms.
Experience with search engine optimization, Web site analytics, and/or social media.
Marketing – 50%
Create, write, and produce innovative, comprehensive marketing strategies and plans that advance the WSU Spokane Health Science Campus (WSUS) and the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (COM).
Collaborate to leverage marketing materials/plans and recruiting efforts from and by the colleges of COM, Nursing and Pharmacy, as well as University Communications, for the benefit of all three colleges and the campus.
Tailor marketing strategies which can be utilized on the local, state, regional, and national levels.
Coordinate with the marketing staff of University Communications on the Pullman campus when necessary to ensure new plans and actions complement efforts of the other University partners and to ensure marketing and advertisements meet brand standards.
Research diverse types of marketing opportunities; print, commercial, online, etc. Assess new and emerging marketing outlets/trends Analyze return on investment, and make recommendations for better utilizing media to meet campus and college expectations.
Collaborate with various campus departments (academic and administrative) to collect data on current marketing and advertising methods. Create surveys and utilize focus groups to ensure that a well-represented voice of the campus community is delivered.
Coordinate marketing by reviewing references to WSU Spokane online using Google Search, Google Alerts, various social media monitoring utilities; create and update tracking sheets to assist in monitoring/updating these sites in future.
Graphic Design – 30%
Create and produce effective marketing materials for print, audio/video and web-based communications and advertisements.
Oversee implementation of creative and brand elements in the production of marketing materials; ensure compliance with WSU brand standards.
Design, illustrate and create original artwork/graphic design for a variety of media.
Conceptualize, develop, design, and prepare graphic layouts for a variety of applications and audiences.
Design, scan or create camera-ready art for publication such as brochures, posters, signs, bulletins, educational information and materials.
Digital Design – 15%
Collaborate with systems analysts, web developers, and content specialists to design, implement, and create visual media elements for external/internal websites, html emails, e-newsletters, digital signage etc.
Assist in maintaining web development resources and digital media archives.
Other – 5%
Other duties as assigned.
