Position: Instructor/Assistant Instructor (Child Development Specialist). The appointment will be at the rank of assistant instructor with a bachelor's degree and at the rank of instructor with a master's degree.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social and/or Behavioral Science, Human Services related fields, e.g. psychology, social work, applied behavioral analysis, rehabilitation required. Experience working with children aged birth to six, conducting and interpreting assessments, coordinating and monitoring referrals and services required. Documented professional training, experience working in early intervention and/or special education programs and Master's degree preferred.

Duties: This position is accountable to Child Development Education Coordinator to ensure the program's full compliance with Head Start Disabilities/Mental Health Performance Standards. Major responsibilities for the disabilities/mental health service area are developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for the delivery of disabilities services (identifying, referring, and follow-up of appropriate services) and mental health services (creating and monitoring behavior plans, monitoring mental health referrals and working with the program's Mental Health Consultant). Other duties include pre-service and in-service training and scoring and monitoring of 45 day assessments.
