The Director of International and Multicultural Studies collaborates with internal constituents (deans, directors, faculty, students) to realize international inbound and outbound opportunities, international internships, domestic multicultural experiences, global spotlight and other intercultural academic activities. This position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President – Global Engagement, within Academic Affairs. The Director collaborates with the AVP – Global Engagement and internal constituents to guide strategic initiatives and implement curricular and co-curricular opportunities that support inclusion, internationalization and intercultural education consistent with the mission and core themes of the institution.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a PhD degree in related field.
Extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures related to international travel.
An understanding of global issues and the impact that those issues have on international education.
Leadership skills in international engagement and intercultural communication.
Outstanding communication, networking, relationship development, budget management and team building skills.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop a shared vision for international and intercultural initiatives with faculty, department chairs and deans.
Demonstrated commitment working with students and faculty to provide them with international experiences relevant to their education and career goals.
