FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITION/HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Division of Health Professions, Lawrence Campus (MCCC/MTA Unit Position) Anticipated Start Date: September 4, 2013

Guide the development of a new curriculum; teach classroom and laboratory courses in medical language and content areas in the Division of Health Professions related to medical information; prepare program for accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education  (CAHIIM); develop program outcomes and establish a program evaluation system. Maintain office hours and advise students.  Participate in College service activities.


Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related discipline and certification as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator required. Must demonstrate continuing professional development related to the role of a health information management professional. Experience in a healthcare agency that uses electronic healthcare record systems. Demonstrated ability to teach within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment. Knowledge of curriculum development, implementation and assessment, including evidence in employing instructional methods and technique appropriate to different learning styles. Demonstrated ability to work collegially as a leader and a team member.

PREFERENCES: Master’s degree in a related discipline. Community college teaching. Sense of humor.  Bilingual (Spanish and English).

Salary: Anticipated starting salary range is $60,000 - $75,000 per academic year; complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with classification determination of MCCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
