Under immediate supervision, anticipates and assists during examination and treatment of patients; prepare clinical areas, instruments and materials; and provides imaging service.

Minimum Qualifications

Additional training beyond high school diploma; supplemented with six (6) months of experience or training as a dental assistant

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reviews patient schedule and sets up floor accordingly; remains visible in treatment area to assist doctors as needed; insures efficient flow between patients and procedures.

Prepares work areas and instrument trays for procedures; keeps work areas neat and orderly; cleans, oils and sets up necessary equipment; dusts and disinfects operators; sterilizes instruments.

Utilizes four-handed dentistry; completes periodontal charting and instructs patients in oral hygiene; assists with bonding, removing o-rings, ligature ties, tying and untying patients, cementing bands and attachments.

Maintains steam and dry heat sterilization area by preparing solutions, cleaning and stocking for daily use; tests sterilization equipment and dispose of bio-hazardous waste material.

Conducts inventory, maintains and stocks supply areas and operatories; tracks expiration date of products; performs as needed, bagging, bur block preparation, clamps, wires, and file box stock.

Dental imaging as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
