Detailed Job Description

One or two adjunct lecturers are needed for fall semester 2015 to teach our undergraduate physics course, Light & Color. This class satisfies the natural sciences requirement of the Bentley General Education curriculum and teaches essential principles of science to Bentley business students.

NASE 342 - Light and Color course description: This course explores the wave and ray nature of light, specifically how light interacts with various media and the resulting phenomena that are produced. The role of light and color in the media arts (shadows, photography, color printing, color temperature, lighting, etc.) is addressed by underlying principles and exploration. The anatomy and physiology of the human eye will be discussed, as will the role of technology in creating corrective optics. As specific topics are presented, connections to science, media arts and medicine will illustrate just how pervasive "light" is in all our lives. The course presents relevant topics using in-class activities, lecture, demonstrations, journal articles and video clips.  

Additional Description of Duties:

Must be able to teach one or two class sections, fall semester 2015. Class meeting times are:
Section 1: Mondays and Thursdays, 11:00am-12:20pm
Section 2: Mondays and Thursdays, 2:00pm-3:20pm  

Position Qualifications

Ph.D. or ABD/advanced graduate student status in physics or related discipline, plus teaching experience is required. Applicants with an M.S. in a relevant discipline and industry experience who can connect science and business will be considered.
