Duties & Responsibilities

The Director of Advising and Counseling Center reports directly to the Vice President for Student Services. The Director of the Advising and Counseling Center (ACC) and Disability Services is responsible for the direction and management of advising and operations; the direction and management of the Disability Services Office. The Director will provide administration for support and professional staff who provide services in educational planning and assistance, conflict resolution, problem solving and entrance exams. All services to include distance education populations as well as training of staff and others on campus that advise and are part of the behavioral intervention program. The Director will develop work schedules, appoint staff to committees, will interface with other departments within Student Services as well as other departments on campus. The Director will collaborate closely with retention and enrollment management for enhanced student success. The Director will plan and monitor the ACC and Disability Services budget and review requests that will impact it. The Director will collect, analyze, and assess appropriate data, as well as develop strategic initiatives and student services learning outcomes. The Director will assist the Vice President with special projects and other duties as assigned.


Master’s degree in Human Services, Education Administration or related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience with advising students at the post-secondary setting is required. Strong leadership, management, and communication skills are essential, 3 years of progressive supervisory experience required. Strong process management skills a must. Strong ability to multi-task and build strong relationships with staff, faculty, students and community. Ability to provide various workshops and trainings. The successful candidate will also value diversity and have a multicultural perspective with adult/minority students, as well as a high energy level and a strong commitment to the community college philosophy.
