The position exist to provide all administrative duties and academic advising for the department of Finance. Includes personalized academic planning and troubleshooting student issues, planning, and budgeting for supplies. Other expectations include creating and updating program materials, discretionary overrides for students, updating catalog requirements, creating semester schedules and distributing to faculty, and reviewing affiliate pools and making recommendations for hire. Provide high quality superior professional services to students and faculty in a pleasant and seamless fashion, responding to the ongoing complexities and challenges of this dynamic and growing department.
Office Management: Performs all departmental clerical duties; correspondence, telephones, filing, orders supplies and textbooks, assists with Degree Works and Student Success Collaborative (SSC), prepares all departmental reports (MS Word) and provides support to Chair via a series of updates and analysis of all directives, deadlines, and requests for information from various sources, Creates and maintains departmental MS Excel spreadsheets. Collects and evaluates information from Banner, Institutional Research, departmental databases, other relevant sources and web pages as needed. Interacts with WebIT group to maintain accurate information and ADA compliance.
Program/Technical Duties: Finance Adjunct Faculty hiring program. Evaluates applications in the Department of Finance affiliate pool, to assure all materials are submitted, coordinates departmental recruitment and hiring strategies of underutilized/underrepresented candidates. In consultation with the department chair, schedules affiliate teaching assignments. Makes recommendations to the Chair in matters related to student registration, admissions and records; suggest action for resolution of problems relating to Student Handbook.
Professional Academic Advising Duties: Coordinates, plans and prepares for advising sessions for current, potential, transfer and readmit students. Maintains confidential student files as well as documents all advising sessions using SSC or current advising record keeping system. Attends open house and major fairs. Refers and informs students of University resources. Disseminates policy and procedural information to students, departments and other University units. Provides advising assistance and training as needed for Department of Finance faculty. Collaborates with University services for student retention initiatives. Participates in University and professional resources for the department. Participates in University and professional development opportunities. Evaluates transfer courses, initiates Degree Exceptions and BASE petitions. Works with the Admissions office to identify newly admitted Finance majors and contacts them regarding orientation and advising issues. Participates on College of Business and University committees and task force.
