The IT Technical Specialist IV performs advanced IT activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of IT principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards and university policy. Requires a great amount of evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May be responsible for training, assisting or supervising lower level IT personnel and other staff. May lead projects and cross-functional activities.

Additional Department Summary:

The Programmer Analyst Sr. provides research programming support to the Center for Advanced Public Safety (CAPS) within the Department of Computer Science. Duties include software design and development and data communications support. This position involves supervision of teams of developers (potentially both professional staff and students), and is centered on working with cutting-edge technologies and applications. A Programmer Analyst Sr. is assumed to perform duties beyond that of traditional software development activities. Distinguishing between a Programmer Analyst and a Programmer Analyst Sr. is defined by these additional duties. Specifically, a Programmer Analyst Sr .must have the ability to: Work with innovative, cutting-edge technologies and applications, including those involving wireless data communications; Address non-traditional and previously unsolved problems that are motivated by research and market-driven concerns; Work independently on self-generated ideas; Direct teams of software developers; Experiment and prototype new solution techniques.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional IT experience, OR Master's degree and 1 year of professional IT experience, OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional or security technology skills or knowledge of project management methods and applications. May require advanced level training or certification.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Familiarity with software and hardware engineering, understanding of interfaces between software and hardware devices, advanced familiarity with Microsoft .NET development, and advanced skills in Web development, voice recognition, wireless data communication networks and databases. This may include familiarity with C++, C#, Java, ASP, ASP.NET, Oracle, Unix, SQL Server, SML, HTML, SOAP, Web services, TCP/IP, 802.11 (Wi-Fi), .NET server platform, as well as a variety of other .NET technologies. Ability to work independently on innovative, non-traditional software and hardware development tasks, and the ability to launch new products that result from these development efforts. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding. Effective time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

.NET C# programmers preferred. 59 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 43887.96 Midpoint - $ 63648.00
