The WSU Aspiring Teacher Leadership & Success (ATLAS) Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing academic guidance to assigned program participants. Guidance is offered through consistent monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on participants’ academic progress; intervening with appropriate resources; and referring to appropriate on- and off-campus support services as needed. The Coordinator develops, implements, and supports the daily delivery of services to participants and is responsible for the maintenance of assigned participant records. This position assists with planning, organization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of program events. Additionally, the Coordinator ensures participants meet requirements of active involvement in the program to achieve the goals and objectives of the SSS grant.
The Coordinator participates in program recruitment efforts, assist in the development of program materials, collaborates with campus partners to coordinate retention programming, assists in the financial management of the grant, and collaborates with Program Advisors to support program efforts as directed by the Director.
First-generation college students/graduates and/or individuals from low-income backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
This position is a 100% full-time, 10-month position.
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
• Master’s degree in related field.
• Experience supporting the management of programs, budgets and record systems.
• Experience working with low-income, first-generation students.
• Experience in working with the target population and/or overcoming educational barriers.
• Experience in graphic design, web development, creating promotional materials, and press releases.
• Experience teaching/advising college students.
• Knowledge of higher education retention/success issues for low-income and first-generation students.
• Knowledge of concepts and factors related to academic, career, and financial advising assistance.
