Under general direction, assists physicians and staff members in performing optimal ambulatory health care to patients in performing research; stocks and maintains exam rooms and nurses stations; assists with clinical research and clerical duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in science or related field. Broad knowledge involving laboratory techniques or other specialized knowledge is desired. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current certification or registration as a medical assistant is preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares patients for physician’s visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs, assists with exams, tests, and special procedures as directed; provides wound care and give immunizations and medications under the direction of the provider; and may be required to draw blood, collect urine

Screens, refers, routes and places patient calls; greets and escorts patient subjects to exam rooms, checks records for pertinent data; reviews and maintains current patient information/demographic data, social history, medication record, and pertinent medical history.

Schedules appointments and tests; enters orders in the electronic health record according to orders from and at the direction of the provider; reviews all requisitions (labs and x-rays) for completion.

Requests previous medical records and information from appropriate sources for clinical research; prepares subject binders, ensuring all charts are complete.

Performs other duties as assigned.
