Detailed Job Description

Under close supervision assist the physician and other technical support personnel with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures and administrative tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics

Knowledge of computer and learn new software programs
Some knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients
Demonstrates a positive, concerned and sensitive response for patients
Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients and co-workers

Ability to learn multiple diagnostic testing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others
Ability to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up
Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking
Ability to remain focused and organized

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma supplemented with three to six (3-6) months of customer service experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Interviews patients to obtain medical and personal data such as medical and ocular history, complaints, and referrals and verifies medications, for patient charts.

Under general supervision, becomes proficient in measuring visual acuity, manifest/cycloplegic/contact over refractions, confrontational visual field, ocular motility, pupillary assessment, intraocular pressure, instill eye drops.

Assists physician during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including instrumentation, sterile preparations and documentation.

Prepares Pre-Operative Consent Forms, and obtains pre-certification

Prepares procedure and exam rooms; inventory and equipment supplies; replenishes supplies and equipment

Performs other duties as assigned.
